Target Affiliate Program: The Quick Guide for 2024

If you qualify, the Target Partner program offers competitive commission rates for several product categories. However, it isn’t an affiliate program you can use for every product you link given that several categories offer zero commission.

It’s worth applying for if you frequently promote Target products, but you may find that other affiliate programs offer better rates for certain categories.

How to Use the Target Affiliate Program

Target’s affiliate program, known as Target Partners, allows you to earn “up to 8%” on qualifying purchases made through your links. To start earning, complete the following steps.

Step 1: Apply

Target Partners uses Impact, a well-known affiliate marketing platform, to host their application. To apply, you’ll need to sign a contract agreeing to the commission structure and terms of the program.

Then, create an Impact account. You can do this with an email and password, or via Facebook, Apple, Google, Twitter (X), or LinkedIn. Once logged in, you’ll be prompted to select the type of content you create, then link your website, blog, or social media profile(s).

Your application will then go under review. While it isn’t clear how long approval takes, previous applicants have said anywhere from a few business days to 15 business days.

Step 2: Share Content

Once you’re in, you’ll be able to generate affiliate links to a variety of Target products. Links will have a 7-day cookie window, which is a bit shorter than similar affiliate programs.

Review the commission structure and terms before selecting products to promote. Several product categories offer 0% commission in the Target affiliate program.

Step 3: Earn Commission

When someone clicks your affiliate link and makes a purchase, you’ll earn a commission. Target’s commission rates range from 0% to 8%.

How Do You Get Approved for the Target Affiliate Program?

To get approved for the Target affiliate program, you’ll need to complete an application. This requires you to agree to their affiliate contract, create an account, and link the platform you plan to share links on.

To qualify, you’ll need to have a blog, website, or social media channel with solid traffic and a primarily US-based audience.

Is Target or Amazon Affiliate Better?

While Target’s commission rates vary depending on the number of monthly net orders, Amazon’s commission rates are fixed. This means that in some instances, Amazon may provide higher payouts, but in others, Target trumps Amazon.

Amazon also has a much shorter cookie window of just 24 hours.

Here’s how a few popular categories stack up against each other.

Is the Target Affiliate Program Worth It?

It depends. If you promote products that fall into their high-commission categories, like apparel and home products, the program is worth it. If you promote products like books, pet items, or sporting goods, it wouldn’t make sense for you given that these categories don’t offer commission.
