ClickBank At-a-Glance

Founded in 1998, ClickBank has one of the longest-standing affiliate marketing networks. As a global e-commerce platform, ClickBank has built an affiliate network of over 100,000 active affiliates and paid out over $6.2 billion in commissions.

Despite this success, ClickBank receives mixed reviews online:

  • 1 out of 5 Stars on Consumer Affairs
  • 4.2 out of 5 Stars on Trustpilot
  • A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau
  • 1.61 out of 5 Stars from Customers on the Better Business Bureau

What We Love About ClickBank

There’s a lot to love about ClickBank. They offer thousands of products to promote, free education to get you started, and promise to always pay on time.

Thousands of High-Commission Products

ClickBank has a marketplace of over 4,000 products to choose from as an affiliate. They’re highly transparent with the metrics as well—publishing the commission and conversion rates for products in several categories like self-help and online business.

For example, Miracle Money Magnets is the top-performing product in the self-help category. With a conversion rate of 67% and an average payout value (APV) of $13.53, affiliates are raking in the cash promoting this product.

Free Education

If you’re new to affiliate marketing, or simply want a refresh of the basics, ClickBank offers several free resources to teach you. Their free affiliate course walks you through how to create a ClickBank account, how to select the right products to promote, and even how to increase traffic to your links.

Flexible and Reliable Payments

When you create a ClickBank affiliate account, you’ll need to set up payment information to make sure you get paid on time. This includes choosing a payment threshold—the minimum amount you’ll need to earn for payment to be released. The options range from $50 to $100,000.

Once you’ve selected a payment threshold, you’ll choose the payment frequency—weekly or biweekly. From there, you’ll choose between direct deposit, wire transfer, check, or Payoneer for receiving payment.

According to ClickBank, they haven’t missed a single payment since they launched the company. As a ClickBank affiliate, you can trust that you’ll be paid on time.

What We Don’t Love About ClickBank

ClickBank has a few notable downsides to consider. As we reviewed hundreds of ClickBank reviews, we found many individuals were unsatisfied with the customer service. We also found that the return policy is a bit tricky for some affiliates.

Customer Service Issues

In searching through ClickBank reviews, we found hundreds of customers unsatisfied with their purchase and customer service experience. In most cases, they purchased an item via ClickBank, weren’t satisfied with the item, went to return, and were met with unhelpful customer service or no refund.

It’s challenging to verify these situations—did they later receive a satisfactory solution? Were they attempting to secure a refund on a product that didn’t meet the return policy? There’s no way to know. That said, there are hundreds of reviews like this, so we have to believe there’s some validity to the complaints.

This is important to be aware of as an affiliate. Remember, the experience visitors to your platform have with your affiliates can reflect back on you.

Return Policy

While the default refund period for ClickBank Sellers is 60 days, they can select a custom refund window of anywhere from 30 to 364 days. If you receive commission on a ClickBank sale and the product is later returned, your commission will be revoked.

As an affiliate, this can be frustrating given the large window for returns.

Brands You Can Promote with ClickBank

ClickBank offers a marketplace of over 4,000 products you can promote as an affiliate. However, you can’t see the majority of these products until you create an account.

ClickBank does, however, publish videos on their YouTube channel and create blogs sharing the top products for different niches. Here are some of the products and brands we found ClickBank offers:

In reviewing ClickBank’s YouTube channel and the top-performing products, we found that most were weight loss and health products with…interesting claims. For example, we found several magical weight loss pills designed to “melt off fat”—which we know isn’t quite true.

The other trending products weren’t from well-known brands, but rather small sellers and somewhat random online stores. Keep in mind that ClickBank Sellers can be anyone—from small online businesses to well-established brands. If you’re looking to promote more well-known brands only, you might be better off with the Amazon or Target affiliate programs.
