Acne Niche

For regular readers you'll know the score but if you're new here this is the deal – in posts like these I 'hack' apart hot niches for you.

I evaluate them for profitability and give you a plan of action so you can smash the niche wide open and dominate it.

This weeks niche in question is an embarrassing problem niche and one I used to suffer from myself as a teenager.

This $3 billion red hot niche is....acne!

According to the American Academy of Dermitology around 40 to 50 million Americans suffer from Acne and the market is worth $3 billion annually in skin care and other solutions (Source).

This is a HUGE market filled with people who have a REALLY serious problem that plagues their lives and they demand an urgent solution to it.

People with problems like this are willing to try anything and pay good money to solve it.

The issue isn't just that they have acne it's that it affects their confidence, makes them feel unattractive and socially awkward.

With a problem like that trust me you are willing to pay for a solution and thankfully there are lots of solutions you can provide to them.

All these factors make this a RED HOT niche that's waiting for someone like you to take advantage of it.

Let's Look At The Demand...

Not only are there up to 50 million Americans alone suffering from it the main keyword has over half a million searches EVERY month so it really doesn't get much bigger than this.

Over 60,000 people are searching for treatment and solutions to their embarrassing problem each and every month.

That's just the really obvious keywords there are thousands more to be found  using a keyword tool.

Reasons To Get Involved In This Niche...

This is an embarrassing problem and no one is happy with having this sort of problem which means urgent solutions are needed.

Around 50 million Americans alone have this horrible problem meaning it's a near endless market with non stop new customers looking for solutions you can provide to them.

It's worth $3 billion meaning if you could just capture even 0.01% of the market you'll be laughing all the way to the bank

People are willing to throw money at solutions to their embarrassing problems which means you can rake in the cash whilst improving peoples lives.

Aside from just acne other problems arise such as lack of self confidence, social anxiety, feeling unattractive so a smart marketer like yourself can make money addressing these issues too.

There's over 24,000 products on Amazon related to acne from books to skin care products to treatments and they all sell like crazy with the average having over 100+ reviews.

There's 136 products on Clickbank.com with 75% commission rates meaning you'll make a sizable commission payout on every sale you make and making sales in embarrassing problems niches is NOT difficult.

110,170 people and counting have 'liked' AcneFree on Facebook which means there's a HUGE audience online and ready to pay attention to your solutions.

Over 4 million blog posts and pages show up in Google Blog Search for this term.

This shows the vast amount of content available on the topic which you can use for research and article ideas – which means little in the way of mind numbing research.

There are at least 10 forums dedicated to this subject and that's not including the hundreds of other skin care, beauty, health forums.

This is where you'll find your target audience and be able to find out common questions and problems you can answer.

On just the 10 acne related forums there's 850,000 active members all looking for a solution – a solution which you can provide in the form of the many Clickbank.com and Amazon products on offer.

Embarrassing problem niches are almost always profitable for affiliates .

People DEMAND a solution because their lives are a living hell with these issues and acne is no different.

No one wants to suffer and they all want someone to come along and tell them how to solve the problem, you can do this simply by suggesting products sold on retailers like Amazon.

With the size of the market (50 million people), the money spent ($3 billion annually), the sheer volume of products on offer (20,000+) and the demanding customers desperate for a solution there's no doubt acne is a profitable niche.

How To Get Started In This Niche...

This is a great niche for a blog, product review site, info product(s) or an authority blog.

What You'll Need To Get Started:

  • A reliable web-host from the likes of WP-Engine (or Bluehost if you're on a budget)
  • Image & graphics from Photodune from $1 (don't take images from Google you'll end up in legal trouble)
  • An auto-responder to build your email list and contact your customers – Aweber is just $1
  • The number #1 email capture tool on the market – OptinMonster, so you can grow your list fast.
  • A set of 12+ free tools that'll blow up your email list and exponentially grow your site from SumoMe.

Every website needs content, traffic, a monetization plan, and an email list.

Content is simple. Go to acne forums and find commonly asked questions.

These are problems that need answered. Find an answer to the problem (usually they will be answered in the forum topics).

Take all the different answers to the question then create a mega-topic on the subject answering it more in-depth than anyone else has before, like I did here with Niche Research for example.

Another great way to get content in niches where you are not an expert (though acne will be easy for you if you've suffered from it) is to find out passionate people on forums who love to answer questions.

In most niches outside of internet marketing these people won't have their own blogs or be trying to make money out of the niche.

They are simply enthusiastic and love to help. They likely suffer or have suffered from acne before.

Approach them, tell them you enjoy their posts, and ask if they'd like to be featured on your blog. Many will jump at the chance to get their work published on an actual blog.

Alternatively get some done-for-you acne content here.

With over 50 million people worldwide in this niche it couldn't be easier to find an audience online.

This niche is ideal for paid adverts targeting Google and Facebook but if you don't have the money to spend no worries.

Get involved in the acne and other skin care / health forums that allow clickable signatures.

Be a useful poster who answers questions and watch as people click over to your site.

Comment on related blogs and approach the owners with guest post opportunities.

Join the big Facebook and other social media groups and start interacting with people in the niche, post your content where relevant.

Approach established bloggers and writers in the niche who already have an audience and see if you can get them to write for your site.

It may cost some money but the content you get and the exposure that comes with it when they share with their audience will be well worth it.

You'l have no issues finding an audience for this niche.

As talked about earlier you'll primarily monetize through the Amazon and Clickbank affiliate programs as well as any other smaller ones you find.

With $3 billion being spent every year it's not going to be too difficult to find people willing to spend it with you.

Create content around common problems and suggest products which offer a solution.

If you provide value in your content people will jump on your product recommendations especially in a desperate niche like this.

Always be getting your visitors onto your email list so you can continue the promotional activities through email.

Email List

Don't under estimate the importance of an email list – it will help your site grow 10x faster than if you don't have one.

You can use it to build a relationship with your audience, drive traffic back to your new content, and promote products on auto-pilot.

Currently my email list sends around 5,000 visitors a month back to my site and that's growing month on month.

Aweber has a $1 trial to get you started here.

With this plan of action you'll be on your way to running a successful acne niche site in no time.

  1. Betrand Uchenna says:

I love this niche, I think I'll give it a trial. It will be worth it. Thank you

    • NicheHacks says:

So what are your plans for the niche Betrand?

      • Uchenna Betrand says:

Thanks Stuart, I'm just starting out as a newbie. But got hooked with this acne niche. Something in me tells me its gona be hot. I'll let my mentor through my ideas on it and I'll keep you in the know.

  2. Kevin says:

WOW!!! This is my niche. Thanks for featuring it here. I got more insight into it. Here is my acne niche blog cysticacnetreatmentdoctor.com
I'm now really inspired to work more on it.

I think I need to get this PLR pack to boast the site with content. Thanks

  3. oz says:

Hi Stuart! Yep, me again, the old complainer.
This time it`s about your floating social thingie. It`s on the LEFT - covers up the article making it a real PAIN to read.

Can you please move it to the right, or find one that is not so irksome??

Thanks for the article on acne; the niche is rather hammered, by the way!

    • NicheHacks says:

I've checked in multiple browsers and on different devices and it doesn't cover the articles for me. It's at the far left of the page on the margin and doesn't go into the area where the articles are.

On my mobile it goes down into a small box in the corner which isn't disrupting the article.

      Anyone else got this problem?

What do you mean the acne niche is hammered? Saturated? Competition is a good thing means there's a lot of money to be made. There's ALWAYS a unique angle to be taken or a sub-niche to get into.

  4. oz says:

    Hi Stuart!

As always, massive kudos to your lightning responses - you are going to make the bucks you have set your mind on!

I am using Firefox, and it does cover writings.

Of course competition is good! Shows money in the niche - was pulling your socks a bit - it is actually a darn good niche to tackle.

I really also appreciate the effort you put in to research.

    • NicheHacks says:

Hey Oz, I've checked it in Chrome, Firefox and IE on 2 separate devices and it's not covering the article for me. It's nowhere near it. Not sure why it's happening with you, could just be different devices.

So far no one else has mentioned it so not sure how wide the problem is. Not much I can do right now as I can't see any problem.

  5. oz says:

Hi Stuart; thanks for trying to sort it out!

What about moving it to the right side of the page?

  6. Sonia says:

    HI Stuart,
You give great info about different niches and I'm hoping you can add more that will be big in 2015.
However, you've mentioned many times that we shouldn't focus on SEO and google key words to get traffic and that it isn't all about ranking. I know you've written a lot about forums and social media where we can find our audience but don't you think more of these packs should include information about this.
In most of the packs they talk about making our life easier by doing key word research for us but you say that key word research isn't the most important thing.
Are there any packs on different niches that do include done for you research on forums and other social media sites, for example which sites allow you to share content for that particular niche?

    • NicheHacks says:

Hey Sonia, keywords can be used for coming up with content ideas and sprinkled into your content so that they target keywords people are searching for, there's no reason not to do that but when I say don't focus on SEO I mean the link building aspect of it too unpredictable and no guaranteed.

That's an interesting idea about including info o which forums allows you to post etc but it would be too time consuming for me and my team to find out without spending a lot of time interacting and being members of the forums so I can't see it being added any time soon, sorry.
