You have to keep track of the results of your email, search, and social media marketing campaigns for each of your websites. Then you have to keep track of your earnings as a whole.

This means that you have go back and forth between one application to the next to see your data. So instead of spending time on the things that help you earn more money, you're just trying to analyze your data.

Fortunately, there's a simpler solution. Once you set up what I'm about to show you, you will have a one-stop shop for the majority of your important niche website data.

You will be able to go to one place to determine whether your niche website is growing or in trouble.

And you will stop wasting time going back and forth from one place to the next, trying to figure out what works and what doesn't.

Solution overview

The solution for measuring and monitoring the success of your niche website is dashboards. Dashboards are composed of widgets from multiple data sources that can show you in a glance the overall health of your niche website.

There are several ways you can create dashboards for your niche websites, depending on whether you own one or more websites.

1. One dashboard with data for one niche website.

2. One dashboard with data for several niche websites. You could have each website's data in a row or column, depending on which way you want to scroll.

3. Multiple dashboards with data for individual niche websites.

4. Multiple dashboards with specific types of data for several websites. For example, you would have one dashboard with all of your websites' Google Analytics data, one dashboard with all of your websites' SEO data, and so on.

The best part is you can also have dashboards emailed to you in a PDF format. So instead of logging in each day to look at your stats, you could just get a report emailed to you.

Keep this in mind as you are creating your dashboards as the format of your dashboard will be the format of your report.

Creating your niche website dashboard

Now, let's look at some of the data points you can connect to for measuring and monitoring your niche website. The tool I use for this is Cyfe.

You will need a premium account to recreate the following examples for your websites, which will run $19 per month for unlimited dashboards and widgets. But it's worth it.

 

Measuring your revenue generation

If your goal for niche websites is to make money online, then income is going to be one of the top things you want to monitor. The first column of your dashboard should likely be devoted to your overall income stream.

To monitor your revenue stream, you can use widgets from PayPal, FreshBooks, Infusionsoft, Shopify, Stripe, and Xero.

If you use Google AdSense to make money online with your niche, you can add that widget in the mix as well.

 

Measuring your website traffic

The next widgets you want to add to your dashboard specifically for each of your niche websites are analytics widgets.

These are the widgets will show you how well your website is performing in terms of incoming traffic.

If you use Google Analytics to measure your niche website's performance, you can add dozens of different widgets to pull specific Google Analytics data about your traffic.

My personal favorites show the overview of traffic, specific conversions, traffic sources, bounce rate, visitor's countries, and social network referrals.

At a quick glance, these widgets will tell you a lot of data.

You can also add widgets for other analytics and traffic tools like Alexa, Pingdom (to monitor website uptime / downtime), Quantcast, Google Webmaster Tools, and other premium analytics providers.

I highly suggest adding Google Webmaster Tools into the mix so you can keep track of your website's performance in search and note any messages from Google about possible problems with your niche websites.

 

Measuring your email marketing results

For those that have an email marketing campaign for their website, there are lots of ways measure and monitor your email success through widgets.

If you use Aweber, Campaign Monitor, Constant Contact, GetResponse, iContact, MailChimp, or SendGrid, you can create widgets to show the growth of your subscribers and engagement rates of specific emails.

If you have an autoresponder series that leads people into your sales funnel for your niche websites, those would be the perfect emails to keep track of to ensure that they are always performing well.

 

Measuring your search rankings

One of the key drivers of traffic to your niche websites is likely organic search.

Therefore, you will want to keep an eye on your SEO strategy, including rankings for top keywords as well as your backlinks and domain authority. SERPs and Moz widgets can help you do both.

You may also want to include your Google Webmaster Tools data here if you didn't include it earlier with your analytics widgets.

The combination of these will help you keep track of your website's performance in search results.

In addition, if you use Google AdWords to send traffic to your niche website, you can include widgets that will show your ad performance as well.

 

Measuring your social media engagement

Do you know how many fans and followers you have on all of your niche website's social media accounts?

Do you know how well you are engaging with your target audiences on all of your accounts?

Social widgets for the top networks can help you answer those questions in one quick glance.

Checking this kind of data, even for one set of social media accounts, can be time-consuming.

      Using your name as your brand has its pros and cons.

      The pro is that you will brand yourself as an authority in your niche, so everyone will recognize you by name. I started out with a pseudonym, and now it's hard to get people to realize I am the person behind that pseudonym.

      The con is that if you decide to do something different down the road, your name will be linked to your first niche. For example, I do freelance writing and photography. My name is linked to my freelance writing, but I have a separate business name for my photography. It would be difficult to rebrand myself as a photographer as most will recognize me as a writer.

      Thanks Dennis! Dasheroo does have a great looking system, but Cyfe connects to just about everything, especially since they now work with Zapier. I do have a primary dashboard too that just shows my conversion goals from all sites - mailing list subscribers, lead submissions, purchases, etc.
